About the fig tree

I left my original backyard fig tree at my previous house where it's the main attraction in a tiny backyard.
My current fig will be espaliered on a white, sunny stone wall. Training will be a bit tricky since the branches are so angular. I'll do anything for delicious figs—even fight with squirrels. Lately I've seen them beautifully potted as tall standards. That's my next project. Pictures to come.

About me

My family kept a huge vegetable garden in Perkiomenville, PA. What we didn't use through the growing season was "put up" in Mason jars to enjoy through the winter. We made sauerkraut and pickels and our mother kept goats and chickens and big Muscovy ducks. A city boy, my father felt a need to till the soil.
